This page is about my new horse, Molly!

I brought Molly in September 2003 from a lady called Lena. Lena originally brought her from Ireland when she was 4 years old.

Molly is now 5yo, 15.2hh skewbald mare. She is an ID x TB.

So, how did I end up buying Molly?

When I first saw Molly with a view to buying her she was very scared and troubled. She would barely let you stroke her face and her ears were a definate "no touch" area!

The first time I sat on her was in Lincolnshire at a cross country schooling place. As soon as I was in the saddle she reared up and if someone wasn't holding her head she would have gone over backwards!

I brought her back home to birmingham in August 2003. She competed in a couple of Showjumping shows coming 5th in one. She also did her first mini One Day Event in which she finished 12th. I had her vetted in September 2003 and she failed on her back and lameness in canter.

Lena offered to have her back but I declined and brought her - much to Lena's amazement! I could see through her problems and see the future star she would become - I could not let her go back to Lincolnshire where Lena would keep her in a field doing nothing - it was a waste!

The run up until christmas...

In September I went back to college with Molly. Being a large agricultural college they had a farm and stables so I was able to keep her there like many other students do.

I registered Molly with the BSJA (British Show Jumping Association) and competed her at college at weekends.

In October I took her cross country schooling around the college cross country course and Molly had an accident over one of the fences. She misjudged the fence - not helping by the uneven ground - and hit the fence hard making us sumersault over the fence. Molly landed on her side and luckily not on me, she did roll over my leg which caused cuts and bruises but amazingly didn't break anything. Molly was fine - just a little stiff the next couple of days.

November and December just consisted of a few dressage competitions and showjumping at college - Molly was not very good at dressage - she is too nervous and gets wound up over nothing far too easily!

More problems...

When winter came round - Molly got hairy! So as every horse owner does I got the clippers out. Unknown to me that Molly was terrified of them and I could get nowhere near her! I used a gel sedative which had no effect after hours of reassuring her. I had the vet out to inject her with sedative - still i could not clip her. I had the vet out again and he gave her enough sedative to keep her calm for 1/2 an hour to quickly clip her! I am not looking forward til next year! phew!

Molly showjumping at college

This is me and Molly competing at a BSJA show at college.

Success was ahead. 2004 came and Molly was in top form. She came 4th at a BSJA show gaining winnings, she qualified for the "showjumping championships of Great Britain" for both the summer and winter finals. She also qualified for The Championship show at Alvechurch in showjumping and showing. also proving a sucess in the showring winning and getting placed everytime!

I knew she would be good in the end and I was right!
